Fuel Price Guide

Bio Ethanol Fuel Price: Cost per Liter, Delivery and Fireplace Running Cost

For a fireplace budget, use the delivered retail price of the fuel approved for your appliance—not the wholesale price of industrial or transport ethanol. Convert pack volume into liters, add shipping and tax, then multiply by the selected burner’s fuel use. There is no single price that applies to every country, supplier, pack size and burner.

How much does bio ethanol fireplace fuel cost?

Obtain a current quotation for approved fireplace fuel at your delivery address. Price comparisons need the same currency, volume unit and included costs. Online figures for bulk ethanol, a bottle of denatured alcohol and packaged appliance fuel can describe different products and purchasing conditions. A low commodity price is not a deliverable fireplace-fuel quotation.

This guide does not publish an unverified national average or reuse an old wholesale number as a current consumer price. The calculations below use explicitly assumed prices so that you can replace them with a real checkout total. For a supplier example, e-NRG’s U.S. site describes its fuel in quart-sized bottles and provides commercial purchasing enquiries; its shipping policy identifies fuel-shipping considerations. This reference is not an endorsement of that fuel for every SEFIRE model.

Compare price per liter, not price per bottle

Normalize the volume before comparing prices
Listed unitVolume in litersCalculation
1 liter1 LPrice divided by 1
1 U.S. liquid quartApproximately 0.946 LPrice divided by 0.946
1 U.S. liquid gallonApproximately 3.785 LPrice divided by 3.785
1 imperial gallonApproximately 4.546 LPrice divided by 4.546
A multipackBottle count × stated volume per bottleDelivered pack total divided by total liters

A U.S. gallon and an imperial gallon are different units. A can labeled by weight is not automatically a stated liquid volume. Do not convert gel-fuel can weight to liquid ethanol liters and compare it as interchangeable fuel. Keep approved fuel format, bottle quantity and net contents visible in the purchase record.

Calculate the delivered fuel price

Delivered price per liter = (fuel subtotal + shipping + handling + tax − applicable discount) ÷ total liters. Include only costs actually payable for that order, and use the same treatment of taxes when comparing suppliers. For a business, compare recoverable and nonrecoverable tax consistently with its accounting practice.

For an illustrative order of 12 one-liter bottles costing $72, plus $12 delivery and $6 nonrecoverable tax, the delivered total is $90 and the price is $7.50/L. This is invented arithmetic for budgeting, not a current offer, a U.S. average or a SEFIRE fuel quotation. A larger pack can have a lower product price per liter and still be unsuitable because of shipping limits, storage conditions or appliance compatibility.

Turn price per liter into cost per hour

Fuel cost per hour = approved fuel price per liter × fuel use in liters per hour. Use the exact model and flame setting. Do not divide the price by total tank capacity to estimate an hourly bill; tank capacity and consumption are different quantities.

Assumed delivered priceFuel cost/hourFuel cost/dayFuel cost/month
$4/L$2$8$240
$6/L$3$12$360
$8/L$4$16$480

The table uses 60 L/month and excludes electrical input, installation, servicing and storage costs. Its prices and 0.5 L/h rate are assumptions, not current market quotations or a measured result for a named burner. At the separate illustrative $7.50/L delivered price above, the same schedule costs $450/month in fuel.

For product context, the SEFIRE Regular family lists a broad 0.4–4.3 L/h range across different models and flame levels. That is not one model’s guaranteed range, and it must not be assigned to a Slim, SEV or manual burner. Request the selected model’s data and use the fuel-consumption guide to build a compatible estimate.

What changes the purchase price and the useful comparison?

Lower price does not justify a different fuel. Do not use gasoline, automotive ethanol blends, methanol, rubbing alcohol or a homemade mixture as a substitute for specified fireplace fuel. If a supplier offers a product with a different formulation, ask for written compatibility confirmation before purchase; a high purity percentage alone is not approval.

Include handling, storage and service in ownership cost

Fuel is a recurring cost, but it is not the whole operating plan. Confirm where approved containers can be stored, who is responsible for filling, and how the appliance is shut down and allowed to cool. Never add fuel to a hot or operating burner. Follow the exact manual and liquid-fuel handling guidance. A hotel or restaurant should also budget for operator time, replenishment and appropriate service access.

A real flame supplies heat while it burns. A cost comparison with an electric or mist effect should acknowledge that they provide different experiences and may provide different heat. See ethanol versus electric and water vapor running cost rather than treating all decorative fireplaces as identical heaters.

Frequently asked questions

Why are wholesale ethanol prices much lower than fireplace fuel prices?

They describe different supply chains and order conditions. Bulk commodity ethanol is not automatically approved, packaged or delivered for an appliance.

Is a U.S. quart one liter?

No. It is approximately 0.946 L. Compare net contents and normalize the delivered price.

Does buying in bulk always save money?

Not necessarily after delivery, storage and compatibility constraints. Compare a deliverable approved order.

Can SEFIRE guarantee my monthly fuel bill?

A reliable estimate needs the exact model, setting, usage schedule and approved fuel price; actual operation can vary.
